![]() Where I am lost is going from the hardmod to the new harddrive. I am new to Xbox modding, but installation of the chip doesn’t seem all that complicated (easier than some of the Gameboy mods). That said, rather than keep this thing around for parts, I was thinking about hardmodding it with a cheap Aladdin chip, upgrading the harddrive, and running everything from that. ![]() ![]() It would be easier to buy a another Xbox. Hunting down a replacement disc drive is going to be expensive and its probably not worth it where these drives are on borrowed time anyways. Probably not surprising to folks in here, the DVD drive in this unit is dead, it won’t recognize discs at all - I pulled it out, put a new belt on it, attempted to clean the laser, attempted to adjust the pots, nothing. Surprisingly, the clock cap (which I’ve since removed) was intact and the hard drive is still functional. I recently came across an Xbox and was hoping to revisit some old favorites. ![]() I’ve been lurking in here for a while now, admiring everyone’s great setups. ![]()
